The 90 days residential training programme has been conducted by the Institute exclusively for the Young Members of Small & Marginal Farm Families in a large format. The programme constituted of 6 batches with a maximum of 30 trainees per batch. These 30 trainees were selected from 2 Blocks of a District (15 from each Block) with recommendation from the District Magistrate of the concerned District under the State Budget Fund in the financial year 2017-2018.

Training Module has been developed based on crop diversity and agro-climatic condition of the Blocks.

One and half hour duration 120 theory classes have been conducted mainly covered with the following areas in a broad manner.

  • Modern Pre-Harvest Technology.
  • Market Led Production.
  • Post-Harvest Management.
  • Value Addition.
  • Modern Marketing Methods.
  • Computer Management and its Applications.

Additionally trainees visited Madanpur Hat, Sheoraphully veg. HAT, Naihati Fish Market, Fruits & Vegetables Orchards, Fish Farms, Dairy Farms & Poultry Farms, Flower Nurseries along with Koley Market where they interacted with traders about different market linkage activities.
Apart from theory and practical field visit they also tried to implement the above learning process in their own field when they stayed at their own home during that training period as per training module in consultation with our training provider.
They also get stipend Rs.1000/- (Rupees one thousand) only per month to mitigate the financial hardship that might be faced by his/ her family during the training period.
In the financial year 2017-2018 total 167 trainees successfully completed the training programme who were selected from 12 Blocks representing 6 Districts of the State. At the end of the training they formed SHGs(Block wise) and opened Bank Account (Group wise) and received Rs.2.0 lakh by each group as One Time Assistance(OTA) in their Group Account after submission of their Business Development Plan (BDP) with a Bank Approved Project as a part of post training assistance. Total Rs.24.00 lakh has been disbursed from the State Budget for this purpose

The training provider in association with NSTIAM monitors the proposed project activities of the groups for next one year just after completion of the training, followed by submission of monthly progress report for each group to the Institute so that Govt. can aware about the post training activities of the Groups.

Total 12 new SHGs have been formed from 12 Blocks of 6 Districts ( 2 Blocks from each District) during the financial year 2017-2018.

Total 108.2136 L has been utilized from the state budget for conducting the program in the F.Y. 2017-18
